Yevaud is a male dragon known as the "Dragon of Pendor". Yevaud guarded the eight dragon eggs that hatched on Pendor. The dragons threatened the local islands and Ged was sent to keep them at bay.

Ged had power over it by using its true-name in the Old Speech. Yevaud was first introduced in the short story "The Rule of Names", a short story published before the first Earthsea book A Wizard of Earthsea was written. Ged is familiar with the story from "A Rule of Names" and guesses Yevaud is the dragon from that story. Ged makes Yevaud promise to never go East of Pendor again.
