Enlad is an island in the Archipelago, north of Ea and south of Osskil. It is where the Kings of Earthsea first ruled. Arren is from here, and his father sends him to Roke Island to send news to the Archmage, Ged. Enlad is also home to the Forest of Aol.
History[]
In the Deed of Enland, many early kings and queens are named but most appear to be legendary. What is know is that about twelve hundred years before the events of A Wizard of Earthsea they ruled much of the area around the Sea of Ea and mapped out much of Earthsea.
This changed upon the ascension of King Morred. As told in the Song of the Young King, Morred inherited the throne from his cousin. On the way back from a diplomatic mission to Havnor, he passed by the island of Solea. There he encountered Princess Elfarren, falling in love with her. Their marriage was interrupted when a figure only known as the Enemy of Morred turned the people against them. He was only defeated when Morred saw his true name in the rain. Enraged, the Enemy sunk the island of Solea, taking Elfarren with it. However their son Serriadh survived when Elfarren sent him out on a reed basket.
Seven more kings and queens ruled in Enlad before Prince Akambar moved the court to Havnor Great Port. However the descendants of the kings still ruled Enlad as Princes even through the Dark Years following the death of Maharion.
