Dulse was a powerful wizard of Gont, famous for having once stopped an earthquake from devastating the island. As a student at the School of Roke, he befriended Nemmerle, who was Archmage in Ged's time. Prior to earning his staff on Roke, he had studied under Ard, a woman who practiced the high arts in spite of customs that forbade women from doing so. Dulse inherited Ard's house in Re Albi on Gont and her two lore-books. Later, he would teach Ogion, who would inherit the house on the Overfell and the lore books from him.
